Overview


Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois, seeks an International Relations Coordinator. Duties: Development and promotion of international partnerships, planning and participation in short-term international programs, organization and management of events, creating marketing materials for international recruitment, and management of international marketing and social media accounts for recruitment according to the assignments of the Assistant Director of Marketing and International Relations, School of Global Education and Outreach. Responsible for maintaining WeChat social media account for marketing and Chinese website, and especially in the translation and interpretation of Chinese to English and English to Chinese. The coordinator serves as primary liaison with Chinese partners, agencies, universities, delegations, visiting scholars and students, and also other international universities. Serve as liaison to all international students and visiting scholars regarding extracurricular activities, local community, American culture and the American education system to ensure successful acclimation for beginning their academic career at WIU. Travel abroad and within the United States up to five times a year to promote WIU and network with Chinese students, parents, school officials, and partners. Represent WIU at annual meeting with CCIEE and AASCU in China and Washington, D.C. Responsible for online Chinese marketing information on the School of Global Education and Outreach website and Chinese websites and social media (Baidu, Meipai: Chinese Instagram for Video, QQ instant messaging, Sina Weibo, WeChat, Youku, Tudou (YouTube of China). Serve as student coordinator and Chinese liaison with China Cooperation on Higher Ed and Professional Development (CHEPD) 121 Degree Program. Travel abroad and within the United States up to five times a year to promote WIU and network with Chinese students, parents, school officials, and partners. Represent WIU at annual meeting with CCIEE and AASCU in China and Washington, D.C. Requirements: Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, International Relations or closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university. One year marketing experience as a product manager, marketing specialist or related, which includes use of website and social media and involves partnership and relationship building. Experience must also include translating and interpreting written and spoken Chinese. Must have spent at least twelve months living in China. Full-time.
