The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) is seeking a Vice President, Industry.  This position is in Arlington, Virginia and is a critical role at AAMI responsible for ensuring our work aligns with the needs of our medical device manufacturer and regulatory agency stakeholders. AAMI’s mission is to ensure the safe and effective use of healthcare technology, and our primary means of accomplishing that mission is the development, adoption, and application of voluntary consensus standards and other consensus-based guidance.  This role is responsible for supporting AAMI industry and regulatory stakeholders (those involved in bringing medical technologies to market) in collaboration with all the service areas of AAMI’s standards development, training, events, media, and more. Qualified Candidates – Please send your resume to:  Employment@AAMI.org As part subject matter expert, part business development leader, and part business strategist, this role serves as a key member of the AAMI leadership team and will play a critical role in positioning AAMI to meet the needs of the future.  This position for an employee residing in the DMV area follows a hybrid work schedule with a mix each week of onsite days in the Arlington office plus local telework days. Essential Duties (Responsibilities) Segment Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to support the needs of medical device manufacturers and regulatory agencies, addressing current opportunities and challenges while driving mission-focused, financially sustainable growth. Standards Development: Working closely with the VP of Standards, ensure the health and viability of the industry-focused standards portfolio by identifying gaps and opportunities for new work items. Community Development: Serve as an organizational ambassador to identify and pursue new members, partners, and alliances within the medical device industry. Business Development: Working with the leadership team and others, assess existing products and services for industry and regulatory customers (standards, publications, educational offerings, events, etc.) and identify new needed products and services. Build a demand pipeline for AAM products and services by generating sales Leads, qualifying Prospects, and closing—and/or materially assist AAMI P&L Departments in closing—identified revenue-producing Deals. Member and Stakeholder Insights: Serve as internal subject-matter expert and voice of the customer. Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to understand their needs, industry trends, and the competitive landscape. Use these insights to inform strategy and product development. Product Alignment: Collaborate with product development and management teams to ensure offerings meet the unique needs of medical device manufacturers and regulators. Sales and Marketing Enablement: Work closely with the marketing/sales team to develop and execute marketing and sales strategies, provide market insights, and support efforts to achieve revenue targets. Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key members, industry partners, and stakeholders in the medical device sector. Performance Monitoring: Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of vertical market initiatives. Regularly review and adjust strategies to meet objectives. Team Leadership: Serve as a leader and mentor across the AAMI organization. While this role has no direct reports, AAMI is a matrixed organization and all members of the management team play a critical role in fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture focused on achieving mission objectives. Leadership team members are expected to help develop early-career/mid-career staff. Team Interactions: Performs other duties as assigned within areas of responsibility. AAMI is a small, nimble organization and everyone has a hands-on role, including senior leadership. Success in this role requires a willingness to pitch in wherever needed to make AAMI successful. Performs other duties as assigned within areas of responsibility. Working Conditions Working conditions are normal for an in-office, virtual, and hybrid environment. Flexible hours: day and some evening hours required to support special initiatives. Extensive travel, approximately 15 times per year generally but may vary, usually within the US. Some International travel may be required. Hybrid work schedule, minimum of two days a week in Arlington, VA, office combined with local telework in the DMV. Flexibility required to increase days in-office based on mission/business needs.
